Xolo Info. – Taping puppies ears.

The Xolo ear usually needs temporary support to grow erect as the puppy grows.  Many different parts of the puppy’s body are competing for the available nutrients and calcium that make the ears stand erect.  When the adult teeth come in and have formed, then there is more available calcium for the ears and they generally are erect by 6 months of age, if not before.  We usually begin taping the ears at 3 weeks of age, very early, so that the pups learn to tolerate the slight discomfort involved.  Here we have photos of 4 week old puppies that have their ears taped and another photo showing how they look when the tape is removed after two days.

We have good news…

…from Salchicha’s family,…”Salchicha (renamed Veju by the kids) turned a year old today!  We have a local place that makes “pupcakes” (all organic, natural, no sugar, etc… treats for dogs) that we celebrated with 🙂  He is such a good dog.  He has adjusted well with our family, warms up to people much more quickly now but still “protects” us, has contained all of his pee/poop to the outside….”      What a lucky xolo he is, to have a loving family to look after.

An era has ended…

…and the last of the Xolos that were bred by Lascelles Premio de Real has begun her journey to Mictlan.  Today, Malinche (Premio Real) Mex.FCI, slipped away from this world into the next.  She relished the comforts of this world and will certainly find even better in the spirit world.   A more regal and dignified Xolo Queen does not exist.  She held court with a houseful of xolos right up to this day.  Always guiding the others with kind and fair and firm discipline.  May she shine in our memories forever.  She was owned by Brenda Armstrong of Nanaimo, BC, Canada and we send our condolences and love to the Armstrong family.  She was so special and she knew it.  She told us all about it. I feel like we are passing a candle for her.
